If staying at home has you less active than usual, good news! The Turkey Trot Los Angeles is back for 2021 with lots of options for runners and walkers, whether you’re ready to tackle a big athletic challenge or you’d rather ease back into exercise! On Thanksgiving morning, thousands of runners are expected to turn out for the classic 5K, the extended 10K, or the one-mile “Widdle Wobble,” which is geared towards families but open to all.
Getting some exercise before your feast is only part of the Turkey Trot’s appeal. A portion of the proceeds—plus 100% of the fundraised donations—goes to a local nonprofit called The Midnight Mission. Its goal is to pave the way for self-sufficiency for local folks who are experiencing homelessness. On a day that’s all about expressing gratitude for everything you have, can you think of a better way to pay it forward than to contribute to this worthy cause? Register online, pick up your bib in the days leading up to the race, and then head to City Hall bright and early on Turkey Day. Day-of packet pickup begins at 6:30 a.m., and the race kicks off at 8 a.m. for 5Kers, 9 a.m. for 10K runners, and 10:15 a.m. for Widdle Wobblers.
