Zach Galifianakis. Damon Wayans. Ali Wong. You probably recognize these names. But before they became famous comics, they were working their local standup circuits just like every other comedian striving for their big break. That’s why these now-famous figures sometimes show up at the Westside Laugh Party to make cameos—it’s a way to lift up the comics who are still on the journey to stardom.

The show is held at the Westside Comedy Club every third Thursday of the month, so the next event is right around the corner on May 19th. Make sure you snag your tickets in advance ($20) as none will be sold at the door. The proceeds always go to a local nonprofit, which makes the evening even sweeter. Although the lineup of comedians changes from one month to the next, you should always expect up-and-coming talent that will have you LOL-ing all night long. And don’t be surprised if comedy superstars like Tig Notaro or Demetri Martin swing by to lend a hand! Note that the show is for those 21 and older.
